For family lawyers and mediators

Clients who arrive organized.

Elephant Diary helps your clients keep a calm, factual record of parenting time, exchanges, expenses and what the other parent said, sealed with the time each entry was written. When you need it, they send you one PDF with the summary first and every entry behind it, instead of a folder of screenshots.

The sample is a made-up family from the demo: 33 pages, built from 18 months of entries.

What it gives you

Less sorting, clearer facts

The summary comes first

Parenting time against the order over 30, 60 and 90 days, with the difference broken down by cause: late and missed exchanges by each parent, and agreed changes. Then changes to the schedule, section 7 expenses with what each parent paid, messages from the other parent, and how the children were doing.

Every entry behind it

Each entry shows when it happened and when it was written. Photos, screenshots, receipts and recordings follow as exhibits, each with a SHA-256 fingerprint.

Sealed, so changes show

Entries are chained and stamped with the time our server received them. They can't be edited or deleted; a correction is a new, visible entry. The package explains how to check it. Whether a court accepts it is always up to the court.

Your time goes further

Turning texts and screenshots into a timeline is slow work for you or your clerk, and on fixed-fee or legal aid files it's often unpaid. The package does that part, so your time goes to the legal work.

Calmer communication

Before your client replies to the other parent, Elephant Diary flags wording that could read as hostile and suggests a calmer version. Fewer heated messages to explain later.

Nothing for you to set up

You don't need an account. Your client sends you the PDF by email or prints it. Their notes about meetings with you stay private and are never put in the package.

For your clients

Free for your clients, no cost to you

  • A code for your clients, made from your firm's name, like SMITHLAW. Tell clients to go to elephantdiary.com/code and enter it: they get 3 months free, with no card. One code works for all your clients. We check each lawyer and mediator before sending a code.
  • No referral fees, ever. We don't pay lawyers or mediators for referrals, so suggesting Elephant Diary to a client is simply a recommendation and never a conflict.
  • What we'd value: 20 minutes of your honest reaction to the package once a client has used it for a few weeks. What would make it more useful on a real file?
  • Private by design. Your clients' records are encrypted on their device, and we can't read them. How we protect data

Good to know

Questions lawyers ask

Is it a co-parenting communication app, like OurFamilyWizard?

No. Elephant Diary is a private record for one parent. The other parent never joins and isn't notified. It works alongside whatever the parents use to talk to each other.

Can I see my client's record?

Only what your client chooses to send you, usually the PDF package or a spreadsheet of every entry. We can't see it either: it's encrypted with a key only your client's password unlocks.

Will a court accept it?

That's for the court. Elephant Diary is built so your client can show the record hasn't been changed: each entry carries the time it was received, entries can't be edited or deleted, and the package explains how to check the fingerprints.

Does it give legal advice?

No. It suggests neutral, factual wording and keeps the record organized. It never tells parents what to do in their case. Elephant Diary is not a law firm.

Where is it available?

Parents in Canada, outside Quebec for now, since the app is only in English. It's built for Canadian family law first, with section 7 expenses and parenting time measured against an order or agreement.
